Martin Truex Jr.’s start to the Brickyard 400 weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway was hampered by several scrutineering issues. Initially cleared during inspection, Truex’s car was later flagged for further inspection, requiring multiple inspections before finally passing.
Truex, who is in his farewell season with Joe Gibbs Racing, has found the recent races particularly taxing. His performance has dropped noticeably, with just two top-10 finishes in the last nine races. Things came to a head at Pocono, where Truex made his frustration painfully clear, stating: reported by On3.com:
“This thing is too slow right now. Rubbish. F**king rubbish.”
At the same time, Front Row Motorsports’ Todd Gilliland faced his own technical difficulties at Indianapolis, failing scrutineering twice. These infractions led to severe penalties, including the loss of pit stall selection and his car captain’s service, likely for the remainder of the weekend, further complicating race strategy.

FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass noted these control challenges and failures on the X social media platform, drawing attention to the obstacles the driver was going through:
“The Truex car has a tech issue and is the only car that has yet to pass Cup tech. Details are awaited. The Gilliland car failed twice before passing and will likely lose a crew member and pit option.
“The Truex car initially passed the tech, but NASCAR didn’t seem to like something and they passed two more times before passing. Still TBD/TBA though similar to other teams in previous weeks who fell behind. pass after the first lap , crew member ejects.
